Jennifer Monet Cowley, 2024
The Book of Jennifer” is a personal memoir penned in the language of color and shape. As we traverse from her nascent experimentations to her fully blossomed creations, we are witnesses to the metamorphosis of her artistic expression, subjects, and methodologies. The canvases are a testament to her lived experiences, her innermost emotions, and her unyielding quest for personal articulation.
Jennifer Monet Cowley has been painting and drawing since the age of 5. Her talent was recognized at an early age as her artwork was collected by her parents and grandparents. She studied fashion design and commercial art in high school; then focused on architectural design in college, but her love for art prevailed. She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Art and Performance from the University of Texas at Dallas. Jennifer works in various mediums: colored pencils, pastels, gouache, acrylic, and watercolors. Stephanie Ward of Red Lime Media describes Jennifer’s works as a “ sophisticated, eclectic Afro-centric style of artwork.” Friend and mentor Frank Frazier, guided Jennifer on travels to exhibitions, trade shows and art galleries throughout the country. Jennifer’s artwork has been showcased in several galleries showings throughout the United States as a result. Cowley’s artistic versatility and skills allow her to create distinctive works that give her a style that is all her own. She is currently represented by the Daisha Board Gallery.
